Once you have been accepted as a patient, your medical records will be transferred to the practice. Your medical records may take several weeks to arrive at the practice so please ensure you have enough medication from your previous practice to cover you.

We advise all our new patients to make a routine health check with our practice nurse within the first three months of joining our practice.

The practice has a non-discrimination policy for accepting new patients. There are a number of reasons why you may not be able to register with your chosen GP. For example, you may live too far away. We are unable to accept registrations from patients who have an exisiting GP practice in Cumbernauld. This is due to practice workload and associated sustainability concerns.

You can be registered as a temporary patient for up to three months. This will allow you to be on the local practice list and still remain a patient of your permanent GP. After three months you will have to re-register as a temporary patient or permanently register with that practice.

To register as a temporary patient simply contact the local practice you wish to use. Practices do not have to accept you as a temporary patient although they do have an obligation to offer emergency treatment. You cannot register as a temporary patient at a practice in the town or area where you are already registered.
